🍲 Grandmother’s Hands

“Some of my earliest memories are of sitting on the kitchen counter watching my grandmother cook. She never used measurements — just instinct, taste, and years of experience passed down quietly.”

She used to say cooking wasn’t about recipes, it was about feeling.

Now that she’s gone, I realise those small moments were lessons. I’m trying to recreate her dishes, not just for the taste, but to keep a part of her alive in my own kitchen.

🍛 The Recipe That Wasn’t Written

“My mum never wrote anything down. If you asked her how much spice to add, she’d say ‘just enough’ — which meant nothing to me at the time.”

I used to watch closely, trying to memorise every step. Now I realise those unwritten recipes were her way of teaching patience and attention.

Today, I’m finally writing them down — not to change her way, but to make sure it’s never lost and create a Vault.

🍗  Sunday Means Family

“In our house, Sunday isn’t just a day — it’s a ritual. No matter how busy life gets, we come together around one table.”

The kitchen fills with noise — chopping, laughter, arguments over who makes the best Indian roast. It’s chaotic, but it’s ours.

Those meals aren’t just about food. They’re about connection, stories, and passing something down that goes far beyond recipes.

🍝 From Struggle to Tradition

“When I first moved to the UK, cooking became my connection to home. Everything was different — the weather, the people, even the food.”

I started making the dishes my mother used to cook, even when I couldn’t find the exact ingredients. I improvised, adapted, and slowly created my own versions.

Now those same meals have become our family traditions here. What started as survival has turned into something meaningful — a blend of past and present.
